hello.

between phillies post-season, flu-season, and danielle's own wedding season we have slacked a bit on blogging. we have so many new projects to share!

we've been on some inspiring field trips as well. below are some shots from our studio tour of two paper dolls -- the well-known design group, based out of wayne, pa, who specialize in custom invitations. we had the honor of hearing the oh-so-inspiring owner + creative director, vanessa, tell her story of how she got where she is today. we left there with some big dreams...

check out their amazing studio and work...

the most delicate + beautiful laser cut we've ever seen.

this is the end result of that demo -- a little graphic design humor.

large love letters.

as you ride the el above...you will soon read some tales of love. a friend just told us about the latest series by the mural arts program of philadelphia called a love letter for you. these are the sweetest murals that can be seen from the windows of the sometimes dreary ride on the el train through west philly. they are so bright and funky -- what a perfect spot for an engagement or wedding photo shoot! one of our brides, elizabeth, from peacock feathers, is looking into it...

caps.

logs everywhere are getting beautified with the help of jessica hische -- local designer, illustrator, and amazing typographer -- whom we adore. check out dailydropcap to download an illustrative initial cap. you will see that jessica has challenged herself to designing 1 unique letter a day. she is currently on the letter 'g' and has a ways to go before we are lucky enough to own the entire alphabet. usage limitations are included on her page.

we love d.

last weekend we threw danielle leigh her bridal shower! it was a gorgeous late afternoon garden party filled with tea sandwiches and pink lemonade cocktails. the bridesmaids appropriately themed the day -- 'we love d.' -- which showed up in the shower invites which were designed by cheyenne and fellow bridesmaid and friend, allie of petite rue, as well as the favor bags, and luminaries that lined the edge of the pool. all of the bridesmaids did an excellent job whipping up tissue paper blossoms, fabric flags, and arranging wildflowers for the centerpieces. everything came out super cute and best of all... danielle was surprised!!

Tom Hartman of Warminster was taken away from us suddenly on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at the young age of 46.

Tom was the beloved husband of Colleen A. Keough Hartman, with whom he had shared 25 years of marriage. Tom was the loving father of Kirstin, Ryan and Matthew, all at home.

Tom was an active member of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and a resident of Warminster for 22 years. His faith guided Tom with his beliefs in Family, Community, and Work Ethics. Tom’s community activities included coaching and board member in the Warminster Little League, Travel Teams and the Warminster Soccer Club.

Tom was a member of Steamfitters Local Union 420 and a longtime employee and General Manager of E. B. O'Reilly Service Corporation. Along with being a member of the Mechanical Service Contractors of America, Tom sat on the Joint Conference Board and the Board of Trustees for Apprentice Training of Service Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in the Delaware Valley Area and Steam Fitters Local Unit 420. In 2007 he was appointed President of the Service Contractors Association of the Greater Delaware Valley.

Those of you who knew Tom remember him as being the life of the party. He had a punch line for everything in life. He loved calling his brother in-law, Dave, fat in front of his daughters. The more they would defend Dave the more Tom would poke fun at him. Tom also thought he was an athlete, many a family party he would go home injured while playing basketball with his nephews. He actually broke a rib at one of his brothers’ parties.

Tom was a golfer, well maybe a hack, just like the rest of the Hartman’s. He was often found making his second shot from another fairway. When you golfed with Tom, you where guaranteed to go home with a sore stomach from laughing so much. There’s a story of Tom arriving to a golf course, not close to home, with two left shoes and had to cram his sweaty paws into someone else’s sneakers.

warning: you will be addicted! one of my absolute favorite illustrators that I commissioned for an exhibit project at the museum is leigh wells. she sent me this fun site where she and a few other well-known illustrators have posted endless images that you get to mix and remix to design the perfect t-shirt. check out this tee I ended up with -- pretty fitting after a trip to central america. have fun remixing!
